I wanted to see how others are doing on the camp curcuit. We have won competitions (KO, FG or Punt) at several of the university camps but received no follow up from the university coaches. In fact the same day of the camp, there were offers made to athletes that were not even attending the camp. Perhaps I am new to this but I thought the purpose of the camps were to see what athletes are interested enough to come to the school and to have coaches put eyes on the perspective athlete. Perhaps if they publicly offered BEFORE the camp, people would pull out and the school would not make $$$ from the camp? (clemson). I know I would not go if I knew there was no reason to come to the camp as a current year recruit. What are others thoughts on their camp experiences this summer?

It's tough to spend the time and energy (and money) going to a camp, doing well, and then seeing another offer. It can be very frustrating.
I know that most of the recruiting has gone on prior to a school's camp date, and the camp performance can just be a confirmation of abilities rather than a straight up winner takes the scholarship deal. For instance, you mentioned Clemson. At a big profile school like that, it would be very hard to go in there as an unknown and emerge with an offer. I do think to a large extent that camp is just to instruction and to make money, as it lasts three days. The kids get a great experience, however, at least that's what I have been told. I feel like Clemson had been zeroing in on a couple/three kids up to that point, and they went with BT, who is a tremendous kicker and great commitment for them. But, I'm sure it did take the wind out of the place once he was offered.
The big summer for my son and camps will be next summer. He is going to be very careful not to attend somewhere where he hasn't already been recruited.
